Job Description: Cleaner/Caretaker

Reports to:
The Senior Caretaker/Cleaner
Working Hours:
The hours of work are now: Monday and Wednesday 10.00 am to 17.00 and Friday 11.00 am to 17.00. making a total of 20 hours per week. The salary is £12,558 per annum
Probation Period:
The role is permanent, however is also subject to a six-month probation period with the company directly. Full details of which will be provided in the Terms and Conditions of employment.
Main Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the premises are cleaned to the highest possible standard.
To open and lock up the various buildings and to ensure the security of the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the church building, all meeting rooms, toilet facilities, kitchens, and all other areas.
- Cleaning and setting up rooms in preparation for church users and the various hirers who use the premises.
- Cleaning of offices as agreed with the users.
- Cleaning of the Basement areas, liaising with the organizers of this part of the premises.
- Assisting with the cleaning of the Museum, as advised by the Curator, in preparation for visitors.
- Keeping outside areas of the site clean and tidy, including daily sweeping of paths and steps, clearing litter, and cleaning doors and doorways.
- Working with other staff and volunteers to maintain the security of the site.
- Carrying out minor repairs and replacements where these fall within trained competences, such as changing light bulbs, etc.
- Undertaking other duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.
- No criminal records.
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Cleaner/Caretaker to join our team in Bedford. This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and security of our premises. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring that all areas of the church, meeting rooms, offices, kitchens, and toilet facilities are kept in impeccable condition. You will also assist in setting up rooms for various events and activities, contribute to the cleaning of the Basement areas and the Museum, and help maintain the exterior of the site.
This role involves working closely with other staff and volunteers to ensure the security of the site and carrying out minor repairs and replacements as needed.
